Unlocking the power of agricultural communities to transform waste into opportunity

BEAM Circular is a hub for the circular bioeconomy in California’s agricultural heartland that is advancing economic opportunity and environmental solutions.

Transforming Waste into Opportunity

Together with the communities of the North San Joaquin Valley (NJSV), BEAM Circular is rethinking our relationship with waste. The NSJV is a leader of American agricultural production and food processing, but some of its most promising resources are discarded every day. BEAM Circular is working with industry, government, community, and educators to advance solutions that transform organic residues and byproducts from the food and agriculture system—such as orchard trimmings, nut shells, food scraps, and livestock waste—into everything from building materials to renewable energy to industrial chemicals to consumer goods. In the process, we will catalyze the fledgling circular bioeconomy on an unprecedented scale and demonstrate a new model for economic resilience, inclusion, and environmental stewardship.

Our Approach

BEAM Circular leads a portfolio of public-private projects driven by community priorities, industry needs, and environmental sustainability. By facilitating collaboration across key sectors, institutions, and players spanning the bioeconomy supply chain, BEAM is accelerating and scaling innovations in bio-based products that deliver value for local communities, farmers, and the planet. This effort will create an unparalleled ecosystem of support for circular bioeconomy R&D and industry activities, addressing barriers to scale for the sector’s most promising opportunities and establishing the NSJV as a regional model and backbone for the future of sustainable biomanufacturing.
